Zenith 11

I got an old Russian slr, Zenith 11 last month and here are some of the shots that I made with Ilford HP5 B&W film. It was just the curiosity that longed since my childhood in having my own slr and I guess that’s why I end up in getting this ‘old guy’ from Mudah (an eBay for us Malaysian).

So, I guess with the self  shot as the last drop, that will be it as an ‘intro’ for my brand new photography blog.

  1. My daughter finally wheedled my 35mm Minolta from me. I haven’t used it in a couple of years, yet parting with it almost caused hives. 35mm was the way for such a long time, it saddens me that Kodak is departing. Phone photos are how my family records moments. A whole generation will lose out on the anticipation of actually waiting for a photo to come up; instead, it’s “Let me see!” Delete. Do over. Enjoyed your photos.

    • Yup, I learned something very useful after I bought this old slr. It made me think more carefully each time before pressing the shutter and as for my dslr, that way of shooting really helped me in getting the most of my camera.

In waiting for the film to be developed? Yeah, those are the most ‘precious’ time! Really missed that until I developed my first ever roll with this Zenith 11.

I live just across the Causeway, in Singapore. I shoot with my family’s DSLR, but am interested in film photography as well (just as soon as I find the battery for my father’s old camera). I love the timeless look in your photographs! It speaks to me so much.

    • Thanx for dropping by. It’s been a long while since I really want to have a SLR of my own.

  3. Great shots! It’s hard finding film photographers on here, unless I’m just doing it wrong. I look forward to your posts!

    • Thanx Nelson. I’m also new to film photography and these are from my first ever roll. Currently shooting on my second and can’t wait for the development!
